Angelitos or niños – slang for criminals
Brumoso – A person who lives in the city of Cartago, Costa Rica or a fan of city’s football team. The people from Cartago are also called cartagineses or paperos. The latter means potato people because a lot of potatoes are grown in the area,
Chori – short for chorizo or an illegal business deal. Chorizo literally means sausage. Embutido (another word for sausage) is also slang for chorizo when referring to a shady business.
Estar con toda la pata – to to great. Estar bien or estar pura vida is the same thing
Fut – short for fútbol or soccer as they say in the States
Juntos y revueltos – to be involved romantically with someone
Juntos y no revueltos – to be with someone but no romance is involved
Lágrima – literally means tear but also used for boulder
Machete – literally a machete knife or figuratively one’s tool of trade. For example, a taxi would be a taxi driver’s means of making a living or machete.
Ponerle bonito – do something well.

El/La presi – the president (short form).. the pres
Tafies – slang for fiesta or party when talking backwards which many do here.
Ventanear – to window shop. You can also say ver ventanas.

Cada uno en su casa y dios en la de todos – Don’t get involved in other people’s affairs or business. Cuida su casa y deja la ajena is another expression which means the same thing.
