A pata pelada: To go barefoot. Descalzo is a more correct term.
Andar de tanda: To go on a drinking spree. Irse de juerga or montarse en la carreta (to paint the town red) can also be used.

Cuatro ojos: Fore eyes or a person who uses glasses. Ceguetas is a person who doesn’t see well like one who is nearsighted NOTE: These terms are humorous but can be taken wrong. Cuatro ojos ven más que dos is an expression that means having another person’s opinion or point of view can help you to see the whole picture of a situation.
Estar juntado/a: To live with someone with whom you have a romantic relationship or to shack up. Juntarse or rejuntarse are the verbs to express this idea.
Estar solo: In a class of one’s own or to be unequalled or unmatched. Como fubolista Messi está solo. As a soccer player Messi is the best in the world.
El estuche: Slang for a soccer stadium. El estadio is the correct word in Spanish.
Fut: slang for fútbol or soccer.
Jugársela: To be able to handle a situation or be good at something. José se la juega jugando al fútbol. Joe is good at playing soccer.
Jupón: A hard-headed or stubborn person. Testarudo/a is also used.
La maría: is a taxi’s meter or taxímetro.
Reventar el tapón: is to blow one’s top or be very angry. Enfurecerse is go into a rage. José se enfureció. Roberto was enraged.
La pecosa or choco bola: Slang for soccer ball. Pecosa means freckly since the ball has black spots. Choco bola is a round piece of chocolate with a wrapper that looks like a soccer ball.
Tapón: A small person.
Teja: This word literally means a roof tile but in Costa Rica it means 100 colones. Una teja can also mean one city block. Correrse las tejas is to go crazy. A Beto (slang for Robert) se le corrieron las tejas. Robert went crazy.
